Deepavali!

Hi Guyz,

Decided to pick a Mangalagaramaana Naal (auspicious day) to start my blog again! haha. and this is it! In honour of Deepavali, I shall be thinking of Idlis and Vadais tonight, although I have these 3 huge Venketeswara Ladoos on my table right now staring at me going, eat me! Eat me! haha..

Well, Sunday, 31/10, we had brunch at Udipi Bhavan. THanks to Anand who organised it, and got the cars, Manda, Yudhisthir and I were driven down to the restaurant by Namrata and Alex, and we had a fantastic buffet. I mean it was like loads of Idlis, Vadais, Puris and even Pongal! haha.. how cool was that! In any case, it was loads of fun! Rushed back just in time to catch Model UN at it's last stages before heading to the library and actually accomplished about 8 hours of work non-stop!

Today was Deepavali proper! Had classes the whole morning, until around 2.30 or so, and then decided on some whim to go down to the temple.

It was quite nice, but also empty cos it was closed till 5. The priest was nice enough however to open the temple a little earlier so I could do Archanai and get back to campus before it started to freeze. Haha.. this evening, in honour of Deepavali, one of the cafeterias on campus, the Star and Crescent, decided to cook Indian food. They have a chef there so the food is actually quite good. It's a 3 course meal, soup, main course and dessert. THey had a sort of weird mix of Rasam (with lentils and Zucchini, think it was more like Sambar but oh well..) and then the main course was Chicken Vindaloo with Lentils and RIce, followed by Kesari for dessert! The chef's pretty good like I said, so the food was actually quite nice! Haha..

Oh yesh.. wore one of the outfits as well today, the beige one! Thanks Appa and Amma for sending them to me! After dinner, there was a Mithai Mela organised by the South Asian groups. Basically, it was just sweets like Kesari and Gulab Jamuns and all, but it was quite a nice spread and the good part was that some of the Professors were there as well, it's amazing how many Indian profs we have here, so got a chance to interact with them, and ended up being convinced to join a whole lot of new courses! Haha.. Basically, Now i'm back in the room preparing for Model UN for which we are going to UPenn on THursday, and then for some Chem tests as well next week.

Ok Ok.. I know some of you are gloating at the fact that I have not indeed updated my blog site for a whole week, but hey. here's an update now!

So me's quite sick, yet decided not to stay at home and mellow (wallow? Andz help me out) in my sickness, and went to SMU for lunch (with you know who) and had (you know what). SO then went to Suntec City to fix my phone, and guess what! They want to charge me $80 to $150! Well nevermind, told them just to see what they can do and call me back.. these idiots updated the software wrongly, or there's a bug in it, but they just won't admit to it! Sheesh.. where do I get such money from? My own money plant hasn't started leafing (it was donated by Citibank to the Save the Anand Fund)!

Well anyways, got back home, cancelled all my tuitions for today, and decided to do some forward planning for the rest of my months without anything to do! I'm still hoping that Aunty Majid has a job at the school, or else, I'd have to depend on the tuitions! If the new class of 3 students works out, then I've got no probs and perhaps, just enough money to run my life! Oh bother! haha...

Well then, gotta run off.. but a kind request... please when you use the tag board, put a name that I would at least know lah! Have been racking my head for the past few days! haha.. and the Vadai recipie will follow soon... anyone tried the idli one yet?

Of Food and Tuition, hmm... wat a life!

Hello hello..,

Wow.. i'm actually updating this everyday! how cool! haha.. let's see how long this'll last! Well... let me just see what happened since last night in the life of Anand...

At 7.45 PM last night, I got a call from Div, and we decided to watch the Phantom of the Opera! Quite a cool movie, and it helped that I knew all the songs, and sang it much to the annoyance of my better half! haha.. but it was fun. The best thing was that Aunty, Div's mum, said that we could only watch 1 movie a month and that the quota was used up, but little did she realise that yesterday was the last day of the month! haha.. how cool indeed! Well so we got back really late.. haha

Then this morning, Amma agreed to let me have the car after sending her to work. I then went to the office, found nothing to do, so decided to go get my clearance from the store side, and everything, it's this process you have to go through before you can ORD! haha... well drove all the way there, and then realised that they were closed.. sheesh.. well will have to walk there tomorrow I guess..oh bother.. anyways, after that, guess what! Hd PAC bought me lunch!

Well not just me, it was like 10 of us.. but it was soo cool and was at Iniavans! And she then said that she wasn't biased against me, it was just someone else (any guilty pangs anyone??) haha.. and she thanked me for my contributions! HOw coool.. but we ate a lot man.. like pigs! haha.. then dropped everyone off, and dropped Mdm Tan in Bukit Timah (while getting lost in the process!)

Then went to Periamma's house, and had tea with her and gurumurthy (who in his latest Identity crisis is now Guru Tree).. and then picked up amma then went home! oh yesh.. and i was sure to get to ngee ann poly, where amma works, by 4.30, then bought a New Paper and read until 5, then called her, and then left for home wif her, while stopping to buy polar curry puffs along the way!

Anyways, then got home, slept for a bit, decided to have a nice bubble bath, then went for tuition! IT was quite nice, did some maths and then some tamil, got Paid!! (Finally, tho it's ALL going towards phone bills, sigh....)

Then came home and typing this now! haha... soo cool! Well then, it's been a long day, so will write more tomorrow!! Just a parting quote...

Here's a recipie, that I found on the web! Well, it's basically like this cool steamed rice cake type thing, looks a bit like an Indian Pau! and you can eat it with just about anything, curries, chutneys, sauces (I've known people who eat it with condensed milk! Sheeshkebabs (Oopz.. wrong type of food! Well, here's the recipie!

Hi Everyone,

Phew... finally got some time to re-work this blog, and you'll be seeing a whole new stream of entertainment coming right your way, right here from the Gopalan Residence in Singapore! Well well well... First an update, it's just 10 days to ORD (Operationally Ready Date), which means, I'm just about done with my National Service! Wikkid.... and then, I shall be... hmm... yes I shall be... hmm.. well don't know what i shall be doing yet, but I would probably know when I'm doing it... those of you who know me well enough, will know that that's typically ANAND! haha.. well then, take care, and visit soon, to be bewitched and bewildered by the postings.. !
